“Up for sale is a Akai S01 rack sampler. It has some rack rash and isn’t pristine, but it is fully functional. It samples and formats and reads disks fine. I’m including the manual, power cord, and some floppies. Some of the floppies are the original four which came with the sampler, however all but one of them are unfunctional due to age. The other disks are some freshly formatted imation disks that work fine and a disk containing some crude samples I made of a Boss DR.55 drum machine. All of these disks work fine, I sampled too them successfully, then successfully reformatted them once I decided to sell the unit. I’m getting rid of this thing for one reason, its way too big, otherwise I’d have to say its the easiest sampler I’ve ever owned. Great easy to use interface if you don’t require complicated sample mangling.” Link

I bought this new about 5 months ago… Made a few nice beats on it, and then the OS froze up suddenly… (I was running OS1).

Fortunately, I bought one with warranty. AKAI replaced the unit with no questions asked, and I have had it sitting here (not the same one I had, A NEW UNIT) for about 2 months now… In my smaller studio, I really dont have the space.

Like I said, this is a NEW mpc, however, if in the future, something did happen, the warranty would have to be processed using my info.

If you aren’t careful you will buy a base unit with limited features and bad pads. Here’s what you get with this particular unit:

– Fully loaded with the maximum 128MB sample memory (standard units only come with 16MB)
– Fully working memory card reader (some used MPC units have bad readers — beware)
– 80GB hard drive (optional on the standard units)
– Over 6GB of samples on the hard drive including over a hundred complete drum kits
– Fully licensed JJOS1 & JJOS2 ($75 value)– I believe this is the best OS available for the MPC 1000 — way better than Akai’s standard OS
