Akai ASQ-10

“Classic and very hard to find Akai ASQ10 MIDI sequencer identical to the famous MPC60 hardware.
Akai took the heart of the MPC and put it in a streamlined unit without the sampling or drum pads and created this incredible box.
Gives you all the rock solid timing and vintage “groove” that made the MPC60 family so sought after, but in a compact package that’s smaller and lighter, perfect for integrating into your existing studio or live setup. With an original list price of $2000 back in the late 80s, Akai sold very few of these (a few hundred?) compared to the thousands of full-blown MPCs that created the legend. What that means today is that these rare machines are the ideal alternative to their over-hyped and overpriced brothers…that is, if you know they exist and can find one!
Has the exact same sequencer and drum programming features as the MPC…just without an internal sound engine. Imagine the flexibility of doing MPC-style programming to trigger drums sounds from an Emu Emax or other favorite sampler…talk about a creative tool for you music!
Unit is in great shape as you can see from the photos
Only a few nicks/scratches and one bumped corner…but these heavy, solid metal machines are built to last.
The backlight still works, although you can see a few spots along the edge where the light is beginning to fade…not a big deal because all the text is clearly readable, and in normal lighting conditions you can’t notice this (see comparison photos). Besides, how many of these units even have ANY backlight left in them? This one is still bright.” Link
