“Today I am auctioning off my Akai ASQ-10 MIDI sequencer. This is likely the best sequencer ever made… It has incredible timing/groove and is very fast and easy to use. It can even be used to sequence VSTs if you’d like (via MIDI into your computer). I used this to sequence with it locked to my LinnDrum via MIDI clock and anything put into it sounds great and completely in time in the most imperfect/perfect way. Modern sequencers like ableton are too rigid and robotic. To get the groove of old-school stuff, you gotta have something like this. All you need is a MIDI keyboard and you have the perfect sequencing setup! The backlight works fine and the sequencer itself in great shape. It saw very little use before me and I took care of it while I have had it. ” Link

“Up for bid is the AKAI ASQ10 MIDI SEQUENCER VERSION 2.03 ROGER LINN EDITION. Same sequencer like the MPC 60.Comes with the OS disk. Disk loads smoothly. The ASQ10 is fully functional. All controls works. ONLY ISSUE IS THE back light is dead. You can still see the display but it’s really dim. You have to look at an angle. Minor scratches,scuffs, sticker residue but overall it’s still in good condition. ” Link

This is the sequening section of the Akai MPC60. Features disk drive, 4 parallel midi out ports, 2 midi in ports, sync in and out. “Classic sequencer designed by Roger Linn, It has the latest OS version 2.13, which is also the latest Akai OS for the MPC 60. This is very important because if you are lucky enough to find another ASQ 10, chances are, it will have an older OS (with less edit options) and to upgrade it to this version you would need to buy an additional Eprom which are very expensive and difficult to find.

So this is basically an Akai MPC 60 without the sampler/pads, it has all the same features and operating system, 4 MID outs and 2 MIDI ins, 64 MIDI channels in total, it also has a metronome output (or you can hear the metronome through the built in speaker if you want) and two foot switch inputs, loads of sync options such as MIDI Time Code, SMTP, etc. It’s one of the best sequencer you can find, and it is very rare. Ideal for controlling external synths, samplers and virtual instruments, and you can sync it with your DAW. It is in great condition, there is a mark in the “Erase” button but other than that it looks great. The screen is a bit dim due to its age but still readable, however I would recommend having some sort of lamp/light pointing at the screen so you don’t have to force your eyes. A great machine, the swing you can get with it is amazing!, it comes with manual, also in great condition and power lead (standard 240V operation)” Link

“This ASQ10 (2.03) has been in storage for twelve years. Before that, I used it five and six nights a week for live music in dance clubs. My keyboardist and myself (guitarist) sequenced it to play many separate instruments at a time including controlling effects modules. With attention to detail and the right sound assignments, we could emulate Big Bands, lush string choruses, pumping Motown horns, funky Stax/Volt rhythm sections, blues, hard rock, R&B, rap, you name it. The ASQ10 is a very reliable and powerful instrument. It performed flawlessly with never a break down over a ten year period.

I turned it on to discover that the backlight may be dimmer that I remember. It’s a little yellow in spots from night club cigarettes. All the buttons and keys seem to be in place. Included is the custom Anvil road case pictured. ” Link

“Hello and thank you for checking out my auction. For sale is a Used and NON FUNCTIONING Akai ASQ10 midi sequencer. The unit powers up but the lcd display does not work , it lights up softly and there is a lcd adjustment dial on the side turning it sometimes makes the screen change colors a bit. Buttons light up when you turn it on but I get nothing, I am selling it as is because maybe it is a quick fix for someone who is skilled in electronics repair, as a matter of fact there are some repair tools for sale on ebay right now that I have never seen before, like a servicing manual. So Don’t miss your chance to own this great piece of powerful equipment. If you are looking at this auction you already know what it’s all about.

“Here is my old and very rare AKAI ASQ10 up for auction. It has been in my loft for about 8 years now and i’m having a clear out . The ASQ10 is working fine but a couple of drawbacks are

1. missing rewind button but it still works ok by pressing switch

2. dim display but perfectly readable with no pixels missing, I can’t remember it ever being any brighter

3. I lost the 2 prong power connector when moving house but have had it hard wired with a “pull proof” connector. ” Link
