“Classic and very hard to find Akai ASQ10 MIDI sequencer identical to the famous MPC60 hardware.
Akai took the heart of the MPC and put it in a streamlined unit without the sampling or drum pads and created this incredible box.
Gives you all the rock solid timing and vintage “groove” that made the MPC60 family so sought after, but in a compact package that’s smaller and lighter, perfect for integrating into your existing studio or live setup. With an original list price of $2000 back in the late 80s, Akai sold very few of these (a few hundred?) compared to the thousands of full-blown MPCs that created the legend. What that means today is that these rare machines are the ideal alternative to their over-hyped and overpriced brothers…that is, if you know they exist and can find one!
Has the exact same sequencer and drum programming features as the MPC…just without an internal sound engine. Imagine the flexibility of doing MPC-style programming to trigger drums sounds from an Emu Emax or other favorite sampler…talk about a creative tool for you music!
Unit is in great shape as you can see from the photos
Only a few nicks/scratches and one bumped corner…but these heavy, solid metal machines are built to last.
The backlight still works, although you can see a few spots along the edge where the light is beginning to fade…not a big deal because all the text is clearly readable, and in normal lighting conditions you can’t notice this (see comparison photos). Besides, how many of these units even have ANY backlight left in them? This one is still bright.” Link

” This is a Akai ASQ10 with 3.1 update and original manual. This unit is in great condition.
Below is some basic info on the unit:
This is a very rare unit and a must for anyone who loves Roger Linn’s Masterpieces, the MPC 60 or MPC 3000. It beats the pants off the MPC2000, Mpc1000 or Mpc2500 when it comes to quality of construction. Here are some of the specs—
1. 60,000 note capacity
2. 99 tracks, 99 sequences, 20 songs(made up of 256 sequences/steps)
3. Assign 1 or 2 midi channels to each track
4. Built in SMPTE generator, 7 sync modes
5. Powerful looping abilities in play and record mode
6. Step edit mode and step entry recording
7. Flexible and powerful editing, quantize, and transposing abilities
8. Built in disk drive
9. Auto punching
10. Time displayed in both real time and SMPTE time
11. 2 midi ins, 4 midi outs (64 midi channels at once!)
12. A huge display, even by todays standards
13. Can play two sequences at once
14. 2 foot switch inputs, 1 metronome out for its built in metronome, sync in and out” Link

“this unit is for repair or for parts.I tried to get it repaired but the power supply to the screen and decaying wiring to the screen meant it could not be repaired.I am not going to try and source these parts. So this machine is great for someone who needs spare part everything else was fully functional with the cxception of one rewind button.I also have a new backlight for the lcd which i tried to have installed. This has been a great machine for me so hopfully it can keep someone elses alive for a bit longer ” Link

“You are bidding on a used AKAI ASQ-10 in Working Condition. The surface has some nicks and scratches from regular use, but physically the machine is fully functional and works like a charm. The display backlight is very bright because I recently replaced it with a brand new one. However, the screen has one line of pixels out. This minor defect doesn’t reduce the usability or function of the product, but it is noticeable. Beware that I am selling this machine “as is” with no returns or refunds.” Link

“Having abandoned my plans for a project studio, I am selling off just about everything I’ve accumulated over the past 10 years or so. This example has version 2.03 software and seems to run perfectly from the menu responses.
The display backlight is now rather dim (very common) but is perfectly visible in normal light (see pic).
I have an electronic version of the MPC60 manual (which is essentially the same for the relevant areas), the actual ASQ10 manual is available online.
This unit has had a had a mod done sometime in the past to replace the apparently unobtainable, and painful, C9 mains connector with a standard IEC kettle one.” Link

“To my mind the Akai ASQ10 is the best out and out Sequencer ever made AND the EASIEST to use!! I have used it in the studio and was my main bit of kit working LIVE, its that good and that easy to use, on stage it controlled 5 modules and changed the patches on my master keyboard for fun! And was treated like gold, hence it comes with its own 5 Star Flight Case. It is totally unmarked, but the backlight died a while ago, so I just used a small clip on light which did the job just as well, the only other problem is the floppy drive wont format a disc ( because its from an old Atari computer! its all I could find at the time!) this is no problem though as I just used to bye a box of discs and format the discs on my computer, problem solved, or spend £25 ish to replace the drive, apart from that, its perfect! If u have any questions just send me a message.I bought this sequencer new and without a doubt has been the best piece of equipment I,ve ever bought, Good Luck!” Link

“You are bidding on a 1989 Roger Linn Akai ASQ10 Professional Midi Sequencer. They were the top of the range back then and they still are.
It has version 2.03 software – it can probably be upgraded more – I have hardly used it for years. Everything works – the back light is fine.
If you are considering buying this, then you almost certainly know what you are looking for. It is powerful tool – 99 tracks, and very simple to use in the studio, or live if you dare.
It comes with a flight case, a lead, and most importantly, a manual.” Link

“I am selling this Akai ASQ10 Digitial Sequencer, because my brother who was moving couldn’t take his beloved studio equipement with him, so he gave it to me. But I don’t have any more space left at home, plus I’m more into playing live than recording. So I told my brother I’d sell it and he gave me the green light!;)
But he did tell me that I should specify what a great piece of equipment this Akai ASQ10 Digital Sequencer is, so that it’s future owner will appreciate it as it deserves to be!
I think I have uploaded a great deal photos which should give you a good idea of the condition it is in.” Link

“Up for bid is the AKAI ASQ10 MIDI SEQUENCER VERSION 2.03 ROGER LINN EDITION. Same sequencer like the MPC 60. Acquired from the original owner. Comes with some blank disk. I tested a few of this disk and they work, but being “old” some might be defective. The ASQ10 is fully functional. All controls and disk drive works. Also includes the original manual. Very minor scratches, scuffs but overall it’s still in very good condition.” Link

I have a cd with the manual and programs for the MPC 60 which is suppose to operate the same. Item powers up and shows information on the screen. That is the extent of the testing done on this item.” Link

Relisted.
” For sale here is an Akai / Linn ASQ10 MIDI sequencer.
This is exactly the same as the revered MPC 60, without the sampler or pads. Akai S950 coupled with this unit, you’ve got a MPC 60, Akai S2000/3000 a MPC3000!
This unit has the original Roger Linn operating system, and therefore it has the classic MPC swing / feel groove, whatever you want to call it. Only the MPC 60, ASQ 10 and MPC 3000 actually have the Linn programming, Roger Linn did not work on any other MPC’s / Sequencers by Akai contrary to what may be claimed elsewhere.” Link
