“Up for auction is this classic Akai MPC 2000. This unit is being sold AS-IS due to our inability to test it fully. The screen has significant damage (dead pixel columns) and is extremely difficult to read. In basic testing, we were unable to get the unit to make any sound. This may be due to internal issues, but is most likely due to the fact that the unit must be properly configured to produce sound, which we were unable to accomplish due to the screen damage. Other than these issues, it is in good physical condition, with little wear or tear. The floppy drive does work, as it requires the MPC 2000 OS disk in order to boot up. Included is the unit, power cable, OS floppy disk, and a copy of the original owner’s manual obtained from Akai. If you’re a DIYer or intimately familiar with this particular unit, this could be an incredible deal on a piece of music history. Unit is sold AS IS – no returns. ” Link

This auction is for a used “semi-working” MPC 2000.
It has the following problems & should be considered “for parts or repair”…
Please bid accordingly & know you are buying a unit that has problems.
1.) LCD Display has lines (see photo).
Replacements may be available in future or you can salvage an LCD from another sampler.
Difficult to read but you can manage around it with practice.
2.) Some pads do not trigger.
Seems to be an internal connection problem as it affects each bank, leaving only 8 usable pads per bank.
Not a show stopper as you still can trigger 32 sounds.
See the picture, the red box is covering the pads that don’t trigger.
Other than that, this machine works & can be used to make music.
If you can get past the problems then you can save yourself some money & buy this MPC on the cheap.
Who knows, these limitations may inspire more creativity…
You can repair it or use it for parts if you already have a 2000.
It has 32MB RAM, no other upgrades.
Cosmetic condition is good, clean 6 out of 10, no major damage, some minor scuffs.
Floppy drive works, MIDI & all outputs work.
This unit boots up, loads sounds & can playback sounds & samples from the pads.
I was able to sequence a beat with it just fine, audio played back & sounded great.
