“You are bidding on a previously owned condition Akai model MPC 4000 Midi Production center. This auction is for the unit you see pictured with power cord external zip drive with one used disc and manuals only. There is nothing else included. Pictures are of actual item. The unit has been powered on and tested. We found the unit to be working but the CDROM drive would not respond, You have to use an open paperclip to get the tray to pop out, the light will not power so therefore it will not read/write. This might be something that can be fixed but that is beyond me. The version displayed at boot is 1.7. The LCD screen works great, you can adjust the contrast with the rotating knob next to it to fine tune it. The outside housing shows wear with some scuffs and scratches, most of the wear is on the sides and edges of the unit. All knobs, buttons, slides are in good working condition. The inputs/outputs are working as well. Keep in mind that the CDROM DRIVE DOESNOT WORK. ITS PRETTY MUCH DEAD, COMPLETELY Unresponsive. This is being sold AS IS, not working properly. While testing this unit with headphones, I am not getting any sound. Could this be internally muted? I do not know how to fix this problem. Cosmetically, there are some surface scratches. Included with the workstation is the power cord. No other accessories included.

“Description: This was Havoc’s MPC 4000. It was used to record Amerika’s Nightmare, Blood Money, his solo album The Kush and many others. Havoc basically used this on all of his productions since he purchased the item with monetary capital earned from Mobb Deeps G-Unit deal which was in the works before Amerika’s Nightmare was released. In the summer/fall 2011 Havoc then gave the MPC 4000 to Joe the Engineer at The Infamous Studios in Queens NY. So all of Hav’s productions from 2002 – Early 2011 was done on this MPC. The Alchemist has used this on many Mobb related productions such as “When you hear the..” & “Dirty New Yorker” by Prodigy. I’m not so sure about Prodigy’s Return of the Mac. I purchased this directly from Joe the Engineer at The Infamous Lab in Queens New York. The MPC will come with 2 letters of authentication typed by Havoc, signed by himself and Joe the Engineer. This was also the unit photographed for Kush.This is a piece of not just Mobb Deep history, but it holds important weight in the history of Hip Hop as well. Hav is one of the greatest innovaters of the genre. I’ve been a fan of Mobb Deep since I worked in a record store in Brooklyn back in the early 90′s. I myself didn’t get into the art of sampling until 5 yrs ago. I was heavily influenced by Hav’s production style and listening to these records alot in studying the craft of beatmaking. So it is an honor for me to have owned this particular MPC, and it will be for you too. It’s like owning a guitar belonging to Jimmy Hendrix!!

Condition: This unit has been used extensively by Havoc as well as The Alchemist and does show signs of cosmetic wear. The pads still have a great feel. The unit could use a cleaning. The only issue I’ve noticed on it is static crackle when you turn the volume knobs. As I said it just needs a cleaning. Other than that there are no pad issues or thing of the sort The unit has been upgraded by Havoc adding the 8 in/outputs.” Link
