”
This particular Roger Linn original works, but it needs a service from the Synth Service Centre in Acton (http://www.synthservice.com/where.shtml) or some other reputable service centre that specialises in old vintage synths. But trust me, the Synth Service Centre knows what they are doing so I strongly sugggest you don’t risk it and get these guys to work on it, and not some cowboy who will end up ruining it.
Issues:
The real time toggle knob is missing but still works, and the stereo mix volume is wobbly but also works. This machine still has the old floppy drive, and includes one Roger Linn original sound library floppy disk. However, as the floppy disks that this dinosaur likes are no longer made, I suggest you do like Timberland did and convert this machine to CD. You can use a trick to use a regular floppy disk which involves taping the left hole over, but really…? Just convert it! Floppy disks are rubbish. ” Link

“AKAI MPC 60 1 SAMPLER/SEQUENCER WITH SCSI VERY CLEAN***NICE***!
This is the very first MPC 60 1 with the heavy steel metal housing case!
I must say this is the best sampler, sequencer drum machine ever produced!
The swing on these machines are insane!!!
The unit is pretty much all original and in excellent condition with very clean buttons, cursors and pads, also the arm rest on this unit is near mint, perfect LCD,
backlight is very readable but not super bright! Unit has been recently serviced
and upgraded with a new set of pad sensors from Forat in Los Angeles.
100% perfect working condition!” Link

“This was my drum machine/sequencer I used for years on numerous hits. I had the early LinnDrum LM-2 (also for sale on eBay) and moved up to this model, the original MPC60 (metal case, NOT the later plastic one). I recently fired it up and was putting it through it’s paces. It appears to be in working condition after being in storage in it’s padded gig bag for years. It definitely inspires beat-making and I know someone will make some great music with it!
I’m including LOTS of sounds and kits… all from the late ’80′s and 90′s, covering a wide range of styles: Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Industrial, Sound FX. This is probably the diamond-in-the-rough part of the sale, if you are into vintage sounds. I deleted the names of the artists whose records they were used on but they were many…
There are signs of wear but all cosmetic. I will pay for insurance to make sure the item arrives safely and am including the padded gig bag and sound disks.” Link

“This MPC is in wonderful condition. It was barely used since the day it was purchased (I just started getting into computer samplers, and kept this thinking that it would one day make it into my standard equipment). I’m including a printed out copy of the latest manual, and a ton of extra floppies (most need to be reformatted).
I am the second owner, and installed the 3.10 os myself.
The included zip drive works as expected, and includes some sounds. This has one of the most wonderful sequencers to work with.” Link

Looks like the seller is including a Compact Flash reader and IDE-to-SCSI bridge adapter.
Link

“Mpc 60 mkii in very good condition but with some noticeable signs of wear – scratches on front panel. but overall good for its age, has not got the usual face rash (rust) most 60′s end up with over the years. Brand new backlight which should last another 20 years ($160) os 2.12 is missing some screws and faceplate on floppy but this is just cosmetic and can be replaced if it bothers you. Output one is cracked but the part is carried at jaycar and is an easy diy job that should only cost about $5 to do. Other then that it’s in good shape as I said aside from some scratches on front panel. 120v so it has to be stepped down. ” Link

“Up for sale is an Akai MPC 60 with OS 3.10e. 120V Version. This does not have SCSI or expanded memory. Unit works fine with no known issues. Unit has a fair amount of wear to the top of the machine. One screw is is missing for the side panel but the side panel still stays on as it has the other 4 screws. The floppy drive is new and works perfectly. The tact switches were replaced around a year ago and still have a lot of life in them. Included are two sample discs and a box 10 of unopened 3M DS/DD disks. Comes from a smoke-free environment. Picture is of actual item for sale.” Link
