The S1100 Professional Sampler is supplied in excellent condition and has been expanded with 8mb RAM. The LCD screen is clearly visible in dimly lit environments and it comes with SCSI port installed and printed user manual.

SyQuest Removable Drive

Included in the sale is a box containing samples CDs, some purchased and others from the front of magazines such as Future music, also floppy disks containing samples from the AKAI Library and other floppies for spare use

Reason for sale

I bought this sampler in the early nineties and rigged it up in my bedroom to a Yamaha SY22 and a 16-2 mixing desk with an Atari computer running Cubase sequencing software. Trying to become the next Orbital or Future Sound of London!!! Alas it didn’t happen and it has been carted from flat to house each time I have moved and stored safely in the original box. Sitting in my loft for 6 years I am now willing to let that dream go!” Link

“I have decided to sell my Akai S1100 and S1100EX as I have not used them for a while. I bought them from PWL studios three or four years ago and they have only been used in my non smoking home since then. They are both fully expanded to 32Mb. The S1100 also has digital effects, digital input and output and SMPTE. I have the manuals for both the S1100 and the S1100 Expander and will include these along with a SCSI cable and MIDI cable to connect the two together. Upto six S1100EX’s can be connected to the S1100 at a time. I also bought a iomega SCSI zip drive but never got round to using it with the sampler but will include it in the auction.” Link

“Hi there here we have an AKAI S1100 sampler – the upgraded version of the AKAI S1000. It can be converted into a hard disk recorder if you wish. It has an analogue sound that cannot be replicated by a computer. The S1100 has been the studio standard for years, often used over its baby brother, the S1000. This particular unit has a nice bright screen and was previously used to produce movie soundtracks in a North London studio. I have managed to find a Windows 95 computer to write the latest OS to disk so it can now load in samples via an SCSI cable using Recycle on your computer.” Link

Allgemein:

Der Akai S1100 ist ein Sampler von hoher Qualität. Mit einer Samplingrate von 44,1 KHz und einer Auflösung von 16 Bit ist er in der Lage, Samples in CD-Qualität aufzunehmen und wiederzugeben. Alle Disketten und MIDI-Daten sind zwischen allen Modellen der S1000-Palette austauschbar.

Die 16-stimmige Polyphonie gestattet die Wiedergabe sehr komplexer Passagen, bei voller Länge der einzelnen Samples.
Acht getrennte Ausgänge gewähleisten höchste Flexibilität beim mischen und hinzugeben von Effekten. Daneben ist auch normaler Stereo-Betrieb über zwei weitere Ausgänge möglich.

Die Stereofähigkeit ist ideal für das Sampling von voraufgenommem Programmaterial (z.B. für “House”-, “Hip-Hop”- und andere Produktionen), wie auch für das Sampling räumlicher Naturklänge.

Der S1100 ist in der Lage, bis zu 200 Samples, 100 Programme, oder eine Kombination aus bis zu 400 Samples + Programmen + Keygroups zu verarbeiten. Das interne 3,5″-Diskettenlaufwerk bietet eine schnelle und einfache Art des Speicherns und Ladens von Daten (Samples, Programme und andere Einstellungen).

The card was in fully working condition when it was taken out of a working sampler.

I am not sure whether this card is made by Akai, Mutec or one of the other Akai approved manufacturers. there used to be quite a few on the market. Akai called it an EXM-008, Mutec called it a DMC-02, but they all do the same thing.

Please note, a few of the very oldest S1000 samplers needed a small modification to take 8MB cards. When the S1000 first came out, there were only 2MB cards available. The mod is quite easy if you are handy with a soldering iron.” Link
