Allgemein:
Der Akai S1100 ist ein Sampler von hoher Qualität. Mit einer Samplingrate von 44,1 KHz und einer Auflösung von 16 Bit ist er in der Lage, Samples in CD-Qualität aufzunehmen und wiederzugeben. Alle Disketten und MIDI-Daten sind zwischen allen Modellen der S1000-Palette austauschbar.
Die 16-stimmige Polyphonie gestattet die Wiedergabe sehr komplexer Passagen, bei voller Länge der einzelnen Samples.
Acht getrennte Ausgänge gewähleisten höchste Flexibilität beim mischen und hinzugeben von Effekten. Daneben ist auch normaler Stereo-Betrieb über zwei weitere Ausgänge möglich.
Die Stereofähigkeit ist ideal für das Sampling von voraufgenommem Programmaterial (z.B. für “House”-, “Hip-Hop”- und andere Produktionen), wie auch für das Sampling räumlicher Naturklänge.
Der S1100 ist in der Lage, bis zu 200 Samples, 100 Programme, oder eine Kombination aus bis zu 400 Samples + Programmen + Keygroups zu verarbeiten. Das interne 3,5″-Diskettenlaufwerk bietet eine schnelle und einfache Art des Speicherns und Ladens von Daten (Samples, Programme und andere Einstellungen).

The card was in fully working condition when it was taken out of a working sampler.
I am not sure whether this card is made by Akai, Mutec or one of the other Akai approved manufacturers. there used to be quite a few on the market. Akai called it an EXM-008, Mutec called it a DMC-02, but they all do the same thing.
Please note, a few of the very oldest S1000 samplers needed a small modification to take 8MB cards. When the S1000 first came out, there were only 2MB cards available. The mod is quite easy if you are handy with a soldering iron.” Link

Das Display ist etwas dunkel, aber es gibt bei Conrad oder RS-Components (kein Versand) eine Folie für ein paar Euro zum verstärken.

“I have 64 floppy discs full of original factory samples for the Akai S Series available. These cover all range of sounds to lush pianos , strings , basses to drum kits. All are of a high quality and a must if you have just purchased a new sampler.
All discs work in my Akai S2000 sampler but from what I am lead to believe they will work in any S series sampler with a floppy disc and will be read by any EMU sampler with a floppy disc

“An early 90’s Akai S1100, with extra jazz/floppy & cd-rom drives, all housed in an 8u flight case.
Basically, this was bought by my band with the intention of using live to recreate synth sounds we were using on records, none of us being massive fans of the ’stage laptop’. Unfortunately, we never got around to using it. It didn’t come with a manual, and I couldn’t work out how to save my stuff on there once I’d recorded it in, I am not sure if this is a fault or I’m just dumb, probably the latter. With gigs looming we stuck with exs on logic and this thing has sat in my room for a year, untouched & untested.
I know some people on the internet really rave about the compression on these things and use them for that nice crunchy drum sounds, so buy it now before it becomes classic!
This thing is crazily heavy, in its case it easily rivals a bass combo in terms of weight. So, it has to be pick up only. I’m based in Taunton, Somerset but I am travelling around a bit in the next couple of weeks, so if you’re interested get in touch and hopefully we can work something out.” Link

It used to be part of an Atari (also on Ebay) controlled rig in the early ’90s, when house music was being produced with these machines.
Comes with an external SCSI hard disk (not displayed, forgot to take a photo of it) for storage of samples.
I don’t have the manual but it’s not impossible to find one if you let google know that you’re looking for it.
It has 8 outputs for individual routing to a mixer, usually drum samples. loops and vocal takes where being sequenced and played through it …good days now gone.

This release contains bug fixes and allows users to record 2 tracks of audio directly to hard disk. These ROMS cannot be purchased from AKAI or any retailers. Installation is simple, simply pop out the old eproms with a small screw driver or chip puller and place new eproms in their place. Power cycle the machine and it will load the new OS. This sampler WILL PLAY any Akai S1000 and/or S1100 formatted 3.5 floppy disc, you DO get the sounds, but the LCD display is destroyed. I owned this sampler for 10 years and the reason why I am selling it for parts is because I tried to replace the backlight myself and took out the LCD display to do so. When I went to put the LCD display back in place,, it was never the same since,, so there is no way to read any information on the screen, even though it will function fine, so I had to buy another Akai sampler to record new samples (to see what I’m doing) ****THIS UNIT IS SOLD AS IS, PARTS ONLY****
To restore this sampler back to 100% working condition, you will need to install an LCD Display and a new backlight. Cosmetically the unit is in good condition, this is not an upgraded software version, it is the basic version and has SMPTE IN/OUT and SCSI port. It comes with the manual and power cord. ” Link

“The sampler does have a little wear from use over the years. The worst being a scratch on the ‘Data’ dial as seen in the pictures.
It still works fine and was tested recently. Sadly we do not have a power cable to supply with it, but it is just a simple kettle lead. It also does not have the rack mountable parts for the side
