“Akai X700 12 Bit Sampler mit dymascher Tastatur
inkl. Batteriegepufferter Speicher für 16 Sounds.
Der Vorgänger des Klassikers Akai S900/S950 von
1986. Hier in der raren Akai S700 Tastaturversion.
Rauer 12 Bit Sound mit Filtermöglichkeit. Musika-
lisch einsetzbar auch mit 6 KHZ Frequenz. Keine
Störgeräusche, der Output des Akai ist frei von
Noise, Brummen oder Fiepen. Ein klarer Sound
mit viel Druck, Bit-Reduktion am PC klingt sehr
viel anders, bzw. unbrauchbar schrill.
Letzter und bester Stand: ROM-Upgrade 2.1 und
RAM Extension auf insgesamt 16 Speicherplätze.
Die Erweiterung ist zusätzlich batteriegepuffert,
also Samples werden auch beim Ausschalten im
Speicher gehalten. Anschalten und sofort loslegen!
Durch die RAM Extension wird der Akai Multisam-
pling fähig.
Funktionierendes Diskettenlaufwerk mit Library auf
Disketten von Akai. Insgesamt Top-Zustand. Kein
Störgeräusche. Das Display ist hell und klar. Es gibt
keine tiefen Kratzer, keine Dellen, ehem.

Link

“I haven’t tried the disk drive as I’ve lost the disks but it worked fine when I first bought the machine in the early ’90s and replacements are available on the internet.
Samples can be loaded to/from the device over MIDI using a program such as Avalon or Soundsystem X7000 from an Atari or a PC using Atari emulation (e.g. Steem)” Link

“I’m selling this great looking Akai X7000 12 bit sampling keyboard from the late 80′s. The belt on the disk drive was deteriorated and torn when I got it so I ordered a replacement belt and replaced it in the disk drive. It comes with a box of original Akai quickdisks, unfortunately either the disks are corrupt or the disk drive is still not fully functional because I cannot get them to load. For the other X7000′s on eBay I can tell you this, your are almost guaranteed to get it with a broken disk drive, the belts always failed over time and the disks are impossible to find so if the seller isn’t saying anything about the disk drive, you might want to ask. That being said, the unit loads up it’s OS off the board and you can sample, play and record it to an external source as long as it’s on but will lose your sounds once you turn it off. I have been using Ableton and recording samples and experiments off the X7000 but I don’t have the room anymore and I’m looking to buy a Macbook so I need more money. Cosmetically, this board looks like the year it was bought, very cool looking Akai style that remains timeless. ” Link

“This is an old school sampling keyboard, akai x7000. It works great and has the original instructions and even box it came in! A great collectors peice and a great lo-fi sounding heavy duty sampler. You can use it as a midi controller as well. I know it’s gonna cost a lot to ship thats why I’m starting it so low. Enjoy happy bidding!” Link

“This is an old Akai X7000 sampling keyboard. However the sampler doesn’t work and I’ve only ever used it as a MIDI master keyboard as it has a nice long keyboard with full size keys, so I’m selling it as a MIDI keyboard only.
If you need a good keyboard surface to play back your software instruments, this is a good place to look.” Link

“Produces some fabulously low tech, ‘dirty’ noises on account of the 12-bit architecture. It is very good at “Mellotron-esque” pads using the looping facilities (which were cutting edge at the time), and lends itself very well to drum/percussive sounds as they can be sampled at near CD quality for short durations and assigned to MIDI channels for triggering.
It is 6 note polyphonic (plays 6 notes at a time maximum) which is pretty low these days, however this particular machine is fitted with the internal memory upgrade (ASK-70?) which allows up to 16 separate samples to be loaded into it at any one time. Each sample can then be assigned to a range of notes on the keyboard and/or a separate MIDI channel, making it 16 part multi-timbral and allowing basic multisampling. It has an overdubbing facility which allows you to build sounds by re-sampling them, also an LFO and programmable low-pass filter and, if you’re lucky enough to own one of Akai’s synthesizers from the same period (VX90, AX73, AX70 etc.) you can connect them up and manipulate the sampled data using the synth’s parameters. It also has a good deal of MIDI functionality and a velocity (and I think single channel aftertouch (pressure))sensitive keyboard with a nice feel so doubles as a master keyboard/MIDI controller.
This is so much more than simply a piece of music technology curios; it’s a very versatile musical instrument in it’s own right with a huge amount of creative potential and old skool character. They’re getting very hard to find in good working order now because the disk drives are a known weak point and the Quick Disks are difficult to come by, but that really is their only achilles heel, the rest of it is bomb-proof. You can actually MIDI dump your saved sample data via SysEx so it’s not really the end of the world anyway. This one comes with 16 QDs, a mixture of Akai, Roland and Sharp branded disks, a few of which are brand new & unused but most contain either old samples or sequence data from an old Roland PR100 I used to have, all of which can be overwritten. The disks are double sided so there’s potential to store 32 whole samples!! (Wow!) these really are more rare than a very rare thing playing hard to get. Also comes with the power lead and a hardcopy of the operating manual which is essential. I can absolutely guarantee you will have hours of fun with this whether you’re just sample curious or a serious muso and I’ve got a horrible feeling I’ll regret selling it fairly soon after it’s gone but needs must, I just don’t really have the space. Relisted due to lack of interest at original asking price so here it is with a more sensible starting bid, lets see what happens.
I couldn’t guarantee this not getting damaged in the post, so collection only please, and cash upon collection would be ideal. If no interest at this price I’m happy to take enquiries re. selling the disks separately/breaking for parts but it seems a shame. ” Link

“I have finally decided, after a great deal of deliberation, to sell my much loved Akai X7000 keyboard sampler.
I guess if you’re even reading this listing, you know roughly what it is and what it does and there are plenty of places of reference on the internet with detailed information, but basically this was one of the first “affordable” musical samplers, launched in 1986, which brought digital sampling technology to the masses.
When compared with the latest hardware & software samplers, this unit looks quite primitive in terms of sampling time/sampling quality and editing features, but therein lies it’s strength – it is very easy to use & makes some fabulously low tech, ‘dirty’ noises on account of the 12-bit architecture. It is very good at “Mellotron-esque” pads using the looping facilities (which were cutting edge at the time), and lends itself very well to drum/percussive sounds as they can be sampled at near CD quality for short durations and assigned to MIDI channels for triggering.
It is 6 note polyphonic (plays 6 notes at a time maximum) which is pretty low these days, however this particular machine is fitted with the internal memory upgrade which allows up to 16 separate samples to be loaded into it at any one time. It also has a good deal of MIDI functionality and a velocity sensitive keyboard with a nice feel so doubles as a master keyboard/MIDI controller and despite (or possibly as a result of) it’s age, it is built like a brick outhouse.
This is so much more than simply a piece of music technology curios; it’s a very versatile musical instrument in it’s own right with a huge amount of creative potential and old skool character. They’re getting very hard to find in good working order now because the disk drives are a known weak point and the Quick Disks make rocking horse poo look like something you have to avoid stepping in every day, but that really is their only achilles heel, the rest of it is bomb-proof. The disks are double sided so there’s potential to store 32 whole samples!! (Steady on!) Also comes with the power lead (very handy) which I once misplaced for sometime after a house move but thankfully rediscovered, and a hardcopy of the operating manual which is essential. I can absolutely guarantee you will have hours of fun with this whether you’re just sample curious or a serious muso and I’ve got a horrible feeling I’ll regret selling it fairly soon after it’s gone but needs must, I just don’t really have the space.” Link

“YOUR CHANCE TO GRAB MY ULTRA RARE AKAI X7000 PROFESIONAL SAMPLING KEYBOARD (only one on EBAY). THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST EVER SAMPLING KEYBOARDS FROM AKAI. IT IS IN FULLY WORKING CONDITION INCLUDING THE QUICK DISK DRIVE WHICH IS RARE IN ITSELF, I NO LONGER HAVE THE USER MANUAL FOR IT BUT IT IS QUITE EASY TO USE, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL FOR IT FROM THE VINTAGESYNTH WEBSITE. YOU CAN HAVE ABSOLUTELY HOURS AND HOURS OF FUN WITH THIS KEYBOARD BY EITHER SAMPLING FROM ANY SOUNDSOURCE VIA THE LINE IN INPUT OR VIA A MICROPHONE PLUGGED INTO THE MIC INPUT BOTH LOCATED ON THE REAR OF THE KEYBOARD.I WILL SUPPLY THE KEYBOARD WITH 10 2.8″ QUICK DISKS FOR SAVING YOUR SAMPLES TOO(THESE DISKS ARE ALSO AS RARE AS HENS TEETH). A EXCELLENT FEATURE THAT I FOUND WITH THE X7000 IS THAT IT ENABLES YOU TO OVER DUB YOUR SAMPLES UPTO FOUR TIMES ENABLING YOU TO CREATE SOME FANTASTIC SOUNDING LAYERED SAMPLES.
THE DISKS SUPPLIED WITH THE X7000 HAVE MY SAMPLES ON THEM BUT CAN BE OVER WRITTEN BY COVERING THE TAB HOLES WITH TAPE FIRST.” Link

“This auction is for an Akai X7000 sampling keyboard.
The unit is really easy to use and everything works fine apart from the disk drive, which whirrs but doesn’t spin the disk, so I assume it just needs a new drive belt. Unfortunately, I have mislaid the disk that came with it.
Cosmetically it is OK apart from one of the rear corners has a crack in the plastic.
Comes with manual and a power lead. (The stand in the pictures is not included.)” Link

” Akai X7000 sampling keyboard! Vintage, and works GREAT! I purchased this on eBay a few months ago, and have since run out of room for keyboards– rackmount samplers only for me. This is a wonderful, analog board that has MIDI in/out jacks, among many others: mic and line in jacks (for sampling), sampling tune knobs, sustain pedal, sample record trigger on/off and more. The front panel uses a large data wheel to edit parameters and sounds– record in 12 bit!
I purchased this from a great seller, who had a tech go over this entire synth– unfortunately, that tech did not have a chance to test or fix the Quick Disk drive. Using a 2.8″ Quickdisk, the motor spun eternally and the red light came on. Perhaps it’s a belt, or dirty heads. Regardless, it needs to be fixed; thus, you can’t save samples to the disk drive at present. There’s lots of discussion online about good replacement belts…
More specs and discussion here:
http://www.vintagesynth.com/akai/x7000.php
As is, this board serves as a great ‘on-the-fly’ sampler, and/or as a FANTASTIC MIDI controller. Its buttons are arranged in such a way that allows changing programs quickly. Over some new plastic crappy studio controller, use this 1986 synth, made of hard plastic and metal. It plays great; I have the matched Akai AX73 synth, and I will always love its keys…
Sold as-is, but guaranteed against DOA– if you get it and it doesn’t turn on, I’ll issue you a refund and pay for return shipping. Buyer to pay shipping via USPS; I will ship internationally (and I pack WELL), but please know this is a large, 61-key synth (did I mention that, with no sample loaded, it emits a lovely mellow sine wave across the velocity-sensitive board?). Please email with questions, and thanks for looking!” Link
