Inside the Akai DPS12

For MPC 2000 and MPC 2000XL owners, Akai’s DPS12 has some useful parts inside to repair their MPC. A DPS12 came our way so we decided to take some pictures of the internals so you can see what is all inside. Used DPS12s can often be picked up for $100 or less on eBay or your local music store which is a very inexpensive way to get a replacement LCD and get useful spares such as a backlight inverter and power supply.

Inside the unit. The DPS12 uses the same power supply as the MPC 2000 and MPC 2000XL.

After removing the piece that holds the inverter and power filter, the LCD is just underneath.


After removing the Main PCB, the LCD assembly is there for the taking!
