This is the black model with the black back. The earlier models of the MPC 1000 had faulty pads, but these have the upgraded pads. I opened the machine and the pads and the sensor below the pads are both a single sheet, not the individual sensors that the bad pads have. All the pads, buttons, knobs, inputs / outputs work well. Sometimes a couple of the buttons take a good press or a 2nd try, but everything works.
