Akai MPC 2000

” am selling an Akai MPC2000 Midi Production Center. I bought this brand new sometime around 1999. I am the only owner and have taken very good care of the unit.

This was the base unit with no upgrades. It has 2 MB of RAM (expandable to 32 MB) and DOESN’T have the effects board installed. It has a 3.5 inch floppy disk drive and the four original disks that came with the unit will be included. The disks are made up of the operating system disk (version 1.7) and three sample disks (hip hop, funk and standard). All the disks still work.

I have taken excellent care of this unit. It has never been dropped or used in a live performance. It has always been stored in a smoke free environment. It has spent most of its life sitting under a dust cover or stored in its original box. I used it mostly between 1999-2001 around once a week maybe (I would just play around with it and create some simple songs). After 2001 it was barely used (once a year, if that) and stored in the original box. The unit is in excellent cosmetic condition with no scratches, dents or stains. I have never taken it apart but the inside may need a good dust cleaning. All knobs and buttons are intact and in working order. All of the drum pads work as well. The disks have been tested several times within the last few weeks and all are in working order. All the lights work and the screen looks good with no dead spots. The manual is in good condition but has some stains/wear/wrinkles.

I have noticed two small negatives. One is that a piece of dust has somehow made its way under the glass screen and is visible when the machine is turned off. When the machine is on, you can’t see it. This could probably be blown out somehow. The other problem is that when I first turned the machine on with the OS disk inserted a few weeks ago the machine didn’t read the disk on the first try. After the first time the machine read the disk just fine with no problems (I tried probably 20 additional times) and read all the sample disks with no problem. This could just be due to the age of the disk and it only happened once.”
