“Up for sale is a very clean Akai MPC5000 sampler. It is in pristine condition – see all pictures as I tried to photograph all that I could w/ebay’s photo limit. Buttons, pads, CF card reader work as they should. Custom dust cover included (see last pic.)
I am the second owner, and I bought it new / other earlier this year from a collector. It is evident that it did not see much use, as the plastic was still on the screen when it arrived… I have since taken it off.
Custom black paint job to all panels along with buttons (see pics for wear on buttons) plus a new set of black pads. Unit was cleaned inside and out and I replaced the original hard drive with a 250gb Western Digital 2.5 drive. This means that I also purchased and installed an IDE – SATA converter kit inside along with a 2.5 drive mount.
Sometimes (upon startup) the hard drive is not recognized. What I have done is just open the back, make sure all the connections are tight between drives and restart… works like a charm & recognizes.
*I have noticed that is when I have moved it from place to place.
There is a small crack on the upper right corner of the side panel. Judging by the crack, I’m assuming this was done when they originally tightened the corresponding screw. It is tight to the unit, and it is not prone to falling off. It is not visible from the top of the unit.” Click here to search for MPCs on eBay
