Akai MPC 60 with Expanded Memory, SCSI

“Classic 12-bit sampler, MIDI sequencer, and drum machine in excellent condition.

This machine is maxed out with the following upgrades:

Compact Flash (CF) Drive (inc two CF cards)
Max 1.5mb RAM (26.2 seconds sampling time)
OS 3.15 Vimana (adds features of MPC3000)
SCSI internal and external
Custom produced flight case from Swan Flight
Printed manual

Cosmetically the MPC is in excellent condition, especially given it’s age (released in 1988!). The arm rest clean and without blemishes, the plastic sides are in good condition, and there’s only minimal nicks to the body. I’ve provided a lot of photos so please review them before bidding.

Operationally the MPC works as you’d hope. The pads feel great, and the velocity sensitivity is very good. No need to change the sensor sheet. All buttons work as they should and none are broken. Some need a firmer push, but it’s minor, and if it bothers you I’ve included a full set of new tact switches for the 60 you can solder in to replace.

Screen is in good condition. It’s not the brightest but very much readable. The original type which isn’t as glaringly bright as new ones, but you can replace with that if you choose.

Also included are four EPROMS of the last official OS, Roger Linn’s 3.10 if you wish to install that. UK power cord. This model is made for the UK / EU so 230v or 240v (there’s a switch on the back). Different regions would need to use a step up converter.

I bought this on a whim, but genuinely it’s sat in its flight case ever since (I mainly use a combo of the MPC 3000 and ASR 10). But it’s a lovely sampler, that sounds great, and can be the centre of set up even today.”
