Akai X7000 Keyboard

Monday Jan 18, 2010

x7000 “I purchased this keyboard several years ago after hearing the rack-mount version which gave a nice edge to the sampled signal. I have not been able to verify if this unit is working properly because I don’t have any of the Akai formatted 2.8” disks. I found some of the 2.8” disks but they were formatted for a Roland sampler and the Akai couldn’t read it. It recognized that there was a disk in the drive as it gave an error message.

The unit does power up and you can hear the disk drive spin, looking for a disk. I imagine there is a start-up disk or such because the unit acts like it is looking for a program to finish the start-up. The unit does have a tone that can be heard when a key is pressed and it does follow the keyboard up and down in tune. I also verified that the unit is sending MIDI note date when a key is pressed as I used it as a controller for a different module.

Due to the fact that I can’t verify if this unit is fully functional, I’m offering it with no starting price or reserve. However, I am listing it to sell “as is” and “no returns”. If someone gets this and finds out I wasn’t pressing the right button or such, I’ll be upset as I really wanted to make this work. But the price is right for someone that knows what they are doing or if they already have some of the Akai disks. ” Link
